Obituary of Brian John Matthew Warrington
Please share a memory of Brian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Brian “G.I.M.P” Warrington hustled his way into the sky on June 28th with a Jeffrey in one hand and a bucket of fried chicken in the other.
Brian was one of a kind. He spent his days holding it down alongside Kerrylou, Tina and fellow coworkers at the Gerald Hardy Memorial Society; a place he excelled in learning new things, taking on challenges and treasured dearly. He had a laugh hard enough to shake the block and a heart big enough to carry everybody's pain but his own. Whether he was sending random messages, late night gifs of the Carlton dance from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, or chillin’ like a villain; when in his presence, you felt it. Brian had a way of making himself unforgettable. Life never handed him nothin’ easy, but Brian made sure his people smiled even when he was hurting. He was a brother, a friend, a fighter — even when life hit hard, he hit back harder. But he never let the world break his spirit.
He leaves behind a crew of kinfolk who absolutely adored him. Family, friends, and a community that’s still trying to process the silence left behind now that his presence is gone.
He is survived by his father John Strickland; his grandmothers Anne Warrington, Brenda Reeves; grandfather Clarence Moore; former stepmother Lori Asprey; siblings Megan Waters, Christopher Hanlon, Morgan Cooper, Cheyenne Cooper, Brandon Cooper and Kara Rooney-Myers; aunts Charlotte Warrington and Joan Strickland; uncles Clarence Warrington, Carter Warrington, Gordie Strickland, Steve Strickland, Scotty Strickland; his “Best Budz” Donnie Cross, Gordie Strickland and a magnitude of other special “Cuz”ins from all sides of the block; and by his four-legged OG, Cheech the cat—ten toes down ‘til the end. He was predeceased by his mother Christine Warrington, grandmother Marie Strickland, grandfather Carter Warrington, aunts Ann Jamieson and Debbie Parsons, uncle Mark Strickland, and cousin Maggie Jamieson.
Though he's no longer here in body, Brian's laugh, swagger, and fearless love for life live on in every memory and every person lucky enough to know him. G.I.M.P stood for more than just a name. It was his story, his strength, his survival, and his soul. So we won’t say goodbye. We’ll say hold us a spot — up there, where pain don’t live and peace is real. So light one up, pour out some watermelon moonshine and keep his name alive. Big G.I.M.Pin’…Narf.
