Obituary of Sheldon Wade Spears

Spears, Sheldon Wade - 72, Lake Echo passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2025 in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Sheet Harbour, September 17, 1952, he was the son of the late Howard and Bernice (Bezanson) Spears. Sheldon grew up and attended school in Sheet Harbour. He moved to Dartmouth and attended Nova Scotia Community College (Vocational School) where he studied Small Appliance Repair. He started his own business, A1 Vacuum Rebuilders in 1980. In 1988 he joined Electrolux Canada where he worked until 1992. Sheldon then established King Courier which he owned and operated until his retirement. Sheldon loved playing guitar and making music with family and friends. He especially enjoyed the Stewiacke Music Festivals where he would meet old and new friends while jamming on the deck. You would always be guaranteed a song, a laugh a cold one and a big meal if you wanted one. Sheldon was a great cook and shared his cabbage rolls, spaghetti sauce, boiled dinners and whatever else he had on hand with anyone who liked it. He loved his family dearly and was very proud of his Grandchildren, who called him Bampy, and he took great pride in watching them grow and develop their own unique personalities. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Monica (Quillan), sons Sean (Sara), grandchildren Emelia, Max and Ada of Dartmouth, Greg (Meaghan) of Timberlea and "his third and favorite son Billy"; sisters and brothers Heather Card, Cecil (Debbie), Jacqueline (Lloyd) Hogan, Carroll (Susan), Mark and many nieces and nephews. Sheldon was predeceased by a sister in infancy. Visitation will be held Thursday June 19 from 2-4 and 6-8 in DS Crowell and Son Funeral Home, 22558, Highway 7, Sheet Harbour. A Graveside Committal will be held on Saturday, June 21, at 1:00pm in St. Peters Catholic Church Cemetery, Sheet Harbour. "I've Had Choices Since the Day that I Was Born" (George Jones)
