






Obituary of Cora Mae Josey

Josey (Beaver), Cora Mae- 97, Spry Bay, It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mom on Wednesday June 4, 2025 at Harbourview Lodge, Sheet Harbour. Born and raised in Mushaboom February 24, 1928 she was a daughter of the late Charlie & Essie (Boutilier) Beaver. Mom lived in Spry Bay for the past 73 years. She worked at the Carlton Hotel for many years, she did housekeeping for several private families and worked at Hawes’ General Store, Spry Harbour. She cared for many of the children in our community. Mom was a strong Anglican, sang in the church choir, helped administrate the chalice during communion, a member of the altar guild and the ACW for 63 years. She also attended the Anglican Senate for 14 years, and a member of the Alpraya. Mother enjoyed playing cards and spending time with the seniors group. She loved to do embroidery work, and knit. She taught her daughter Patricia and friend Sherry how to hold their needles properly. Mother also played the steel guitar and organ for many years. Mother also made bread and sweet rolls every Friday, and homemade beans on Saturday. Survived by daughter; Patricia, son; David (Susan Dugie), granddaughters; Tracie, Tara-Lee (Joseph), Taylor (Chris), great grandchildren; Connor, Callie, Gracie, brothers; Foster (Betty-Ann) Beaver, Charlie Beaver, sister; Eva Boutilier, sisters in law; Lottie Beaver, Judy Beaver, brother in-law; Ronald Munroe “Butch” and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband Bruce Josey, sisters; Kathleen (Leo), Dorothy (Harold), Phyllis, brothers; Stanley (Margaret), Harold, Cecil, Laverne (Marion), son in-law; Ronald Malay, daughter in-law; Ruth Josey, great granddaughter Evie Stewart. Visitation will be held Sunday June 8 from 7-9pm with prayers at 7:30 in DS Crowell & Son Funeral Home 22558 Highway 7, Sheet Harbour. Funeral service will be held Monday June 9 at 11am in St. James Anglican Church, Spry Bay. Many thanks to Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, Harbourview Lodge, DS Crowell & Son Funeral Home for the care, love and support given. who we are:
My father the late Duncan S. Crowell purchased the business on August 31, 1970 from the late Parker Hamilton. Dad named it Eastern Memorial Funeral Home until a few years later when he changed the name to DS Crowell Funeral Home.
