It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary-Jean Perkins (Croft), 76, of Sheet Harbour, NS. She left this realm in the presence of her daughter on March 30th, 2025, in Harbourview Lodge, Sheet Harbour. Mary-Jean was born in Stellarton, NS on December 20, 1948 to John Edson Croft and Margaret Pearl (Wood). After attending Halifax West High School and Halifax Vocational School, Mary Jean went on to become a Travel agent for Maritime Travel. Working in the travel industry for years allowed her to visit many places, with Greece and Barbados among her favorites. After meeting and marrying her second husband, Walter Perkins, she relocated with him to Sheet Harbour. Here, Mary-Jean, became active in several learning initiatives in the area, including Eastern Shore Learning Opportunities for Women (E.S.L.O.W), the Halifax Regional School Board and Community Schools Continuing Education, helping to bring resources to the area and this was very fulfilling for her. Later, she worked for The Department of Mental Health and Addictions supporting many members of the community. Mary-Jean was predeceased by her parents, her husbands, her Beloved son, David MacKinnon. She is survived by her daughter; Lisa Kitchen (Andrew), Sister; Linda Kennedy, Brothers; John (Louise) Croft, Bill Croft, Grandchildren; Fiona, Finn and Grady Kitchen. A sincere thank you to Dr. MacDonald and all of the staff at Harbourview Lodge for the excellent care of Mom during her 8 years, especially her last days. Cremation has taken place.
