Margaret Elaine Monk Obituary

It is with a profound sense of sadness that the family of Margaret {Marg/Maggie} Elaine Monk, 74, of Ostrea Lake, announces her sudden passing at the Dartmouth General on May 5th, 2025.

Margaret studied hair design in the 1960’s and in 1970 she married the love of her life, Thomas {Tommy} Monk,Jr..

In the 1980’s her career took her to work as a CCW at The Birches Home for Special Care. A job she truly enjoyed and where she made many lifelong friends. After Marg’s retirement in 1998, she and Tommy assisted in the raising of their two Grandsons. This was a job they truly enjoyed and were proud to be a part of.

Marg was a person who truly loved all her family. No matter how big or small, she never held a grudge.

Marg was predeceased by her husband Tommy; parents, Frances and Allan Monk; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Granville Gray; father-in-law, Thomas Monk, Sr.; and brother-in-law, Herbert {Patricia} MacKay.

After the death of her husband, Marg was fortunate to once again find love. She happily spent the last six years with her companion, Bob Langille and their two fur babies Mittens and Sasha.

In addition to Bob, Marg is survived by her son Robert {Riley}; two grandsons, Mitchell and Logan Phillips; beloved mother-in-law, Marion Monk; sister-in-law, Marianne {Harry} Marshall; brothers-in-law, Jerry, Tony {Marilyn} and Joey {Sharon} Monk and sister Barbara Power. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, many of which she had a very special bond, especially her niece JoAnne Gray, whom she spent many an evening conversing with.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to D.S. Crowell and Son Funeral Home, Sheet Harbour.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 12th, 2025, at 2p.m. at Meagher’s Grant Cemetery, Meagher’s Grant with Rev. Michael Foley officiating.
