Obituary of Austin Ernest Oickle

Oickle, Austin Ernest- 86, Beaver Harbour, passed away February 16, 2025 in Harbourview Lodge, Sheet Harbour. Born in Beaver Harbour December 14, 1938 he was a son of the late Lawrence & Viola “Olie” (Whitman) Oickle. Austin joined the Canadian Armed Forces at age 17 and served proudly for 15 years. In a second career he drove OcTranspo buses in Ottawa for 25 years. He moved back home to Beaver Harbour where he retired. Austin enjoyed baking, hunting, fishing, spending time at the camp and with family and friends. Survived by his wife of 38 years Jeannette, his sons; Robert (Pamela), Jeffrey, Daniel and daughter Lynn Pelow (Clayton), Julie (Louis) Boulanger, Danielle Cousineau (Charles), Philippe (Sarah), his grandchildren; Jason, Jonathan, Jeffrey, Steven, Ashton, Savannah, Kyle, Isabelle, Sarah, Maxime, Cédric, Hugo, Eve and 5 great granddaughters; Peyton, Elliyah, Chloe, Saydi and Ivy. His sisters; Bonnie Whitman, Wendy McLellan and brother; Merrill. Austin will be missed by cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by sisters; Beryl, Audrey Boutilier, Jean MacQueen, brother; Elwin, sister in-laws; Malda, Sheila and brother in-laws Clair Whitman and John McLellan. Special thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff at Harbourview Lodge for their kindness and compassion shown to Austin and his family while he was a resident there. Visitation will be held Sunday February 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 in DS Crowell & Son Funeral Home, 22558 Highway 7, Sheet Harbour. Funeral Service will be held Monday February 24 at 1pm in St. James Anglican Church, Port Dufferin, Rev. Dr. Michael Foley officiating, burial in Beaver Harbour Cemetery.
