Please share a memory of Hazel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Butler (Hilchie) Hazel Elsie. June 19/1928 To February13/2025 With broken hearts we announce the passing of Hazel Elsie Butler 96 of Harbourview Lodge, Sheet Harbour formerly of Pleasant Harbour. Hazel was a lifelong resident of Pleasant Harbour and was always ready with cookies for her grandchildren and their friends and became known as Cookie Nanny. Due to ailing health she moved to Harbourview Lodge at the age of 95. Hazel loved all the staff and residence at the lodge and never turned down a game of 45s or activities. She was a fierce competitor and cleaned up at bingo and bowling. When asked about her health, she would declare she was "Just Ducky". She loved tea "just milk, no sugar!" and a small glass of wine in the evening. Despite all the laughter and love, there were days when she longed for her little house by the road where she "scratched in the dirt" in her garden and fed the birds. Born to Esson and Elva (Clattenburg) Hilchie in Pleasant Harbour, she was a member of St Peters Anglican Church Murphys Cove and a member of St: Peters A.C.W. She is survived by daughter Jean of Dutch Settlement, son David (Bonnie) of Mushaboom.
