Jewel, I will always remember how you (along with the rest of your family) were there to help my family when we needed it most. Jewel and my daughter Tasha were great friends throughout school and I had the extra pleasure of having her as part of our Guide group. She christened me 'Woodpecker", I guess I liked to drill things into their heads, so I christened her my little hazelnut. I will miss her beautiful smile and laugh. I met Jewel in high school, at Prince Andrew. We were never close friends by any means, but hung around enough of the same people and had enough classes together that we’d chat, and when we did she was the absolute sweetest. I first met Jewel in Middle School at REC, her infectious laugh, beautiful smile and genuine kindness could instantly light up any room. I would often try hard every day to get the desk closest to hers, so we admittedly could trade erasers and silly bands, and do more chatting than school work. Finding out the sad and sudden news of her passing, instantly took me back to our school days many years ago, fond but now sad memories of a beautiful soul.
